Healing From Past Hurts
We were short a few volunteers and it was a very chaotic day at Open House*, with lots of unexpected things. But as the day was winding down, one of our regular guests asked to speak with me. She wanted to introduce me to her friend. At this point it was just the three of us in the hall, and I sat down with them. Her friend was a young woman who seemed a bit shy. I asked her name and they shared with me how she had been hurt by church in the past. I gave her an overview of what goes on here at Hope Church and told her that she is always welcome at Open House and our Sunday services. As we were talking, I felt prompted to ask if there was anything she would like me to pray for. She shared that she is in a difficult housing situation at the moment and is functionally homeless. I was able to pray with her, and afterwards shared a few verses from Lamentations 3:21-24.
‘Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.’
A Special Gift
I noticed that she was writing the verses and I asked her if she had a Bible. She said no so I offered her the one I was using. She told me that this was an answer to her prayers because her Bible had been stolen and she had no money to buy a new one.

Please pray for this young woman, not just for her housing situation, but also for healing for the emotional hurts she has experienced. Please pray that we would have more opportunities to pour into her life.
