Would you relish the challenge of leading the development of our ‘Community Hub’ site into a thriving centre of intercultural activity? Could you inspire and equip Christians to share the love of Jesus through working together with those of other faiths to bring positive transformation to local communities?
- Do you have experience of and a love for intercultural ministry and relationships, particularly amongst Muslim peoples?
- Are you gifted in initiating and facilitating multiple activities in one location and encouraging good collaboration between different individuals or groups of people?
- Could you prayerfully discern God’s direction for activities within the Community Hub, and how to respond to needs identified with the best use of resources available?
- Is equipping and supporting others to develop their intercultural awareness and involvements something you are passionate about?
We are praying for and seeking someone(s) to be our Community Activities and Relations Manager – to grow local relationships, and to develop the expressions of intercultural ministry and equipping at our Community Hub.
This Hub forms part of our aspiration and commitment to living and working interculturally amongst the peoples of Asia and the Arab World; to see lives and communities transformed as Christians build relationships with the people around them through community-based activities. The site has been used to serve the local community for over 100 years. We are committed to continuing that history of service and to providing a place of welcome for all. The Community Hub site is situated in the West Midlands and has a large building which is home to the resident community in one wing, office spaces in another, plus several rooms which are used for local community activities. It also has a chapel and gardens.
This Community Activities and Relations Manager role is key in helping to see the vision for our Community Hub fulfilled. The Community Activities and Relations Manager will build local relationships and develop expressions of intercultural ministry and equipping (in collaboration with others) that bring positive benefits to local communities. We are looking for an individual, or couple, who:
- Has a heart for and experience of intercultural ministry, preferably amongst Muslim peoples;
- Relates well to local community leaders, church leaders, and members of both, and can encourage engagement in shared activities;
- Is able to play a key facilitation role for activities led by multiple partners at the Hub, but also willing to both initiate and be involved in local expressions of ministry;
- Can lead by example and be a catalyst in equipping others to get involved or to start intercultural activities in other places;
- Will commit to joining with the rhythm of prayer at and for the Hub, actively seeking God’s guidance for the future direction of activities and equipping at the Hub.
We are looking for someone(s) able to commit for at least two years. Candidates should be self-supporting, although some level of financial assistance may be provided if needed, assessed on a case-by-case basis. Financial support-raising advice will be offered.
The Community Activities and Relations Manager may choose to live at the Hub and become part of its resident community (benefitting from reasonable monthly rent and shared living costs), but it is not a requirement of the role.
Hours/working pattern
Full–time hours split flexibly across the week (and occasionally weekend/evening as led by ministry or relational activities).
